Dr. Wyatt McDowell is an experienced church consultant, having worked during his professional career with many local churches, denominations and international ministries. He is also a licensed attorney admitted to practice in the courts of the State of Ohio and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court.

Dr. McDowell is a graduate of Wilberforce University where he received his B.A. in Political Science and Economics. He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree from Indiana University School of Law and also graduated from the Harvard Business School. In addition, Dr. McDowell also received a graduate law degree from the Capital University Law and Graduate Center with a specialty in Taxation.

Dr. McDowell’s work history is very diverse and expansive, having worked for several large corporations in both legal and operational capacities. He has also served in the capacity of Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio.

Dr. McDowell is a former Associate Professor of Commercial Law and Taxation at the University of Louisville. He has also served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia and the School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.

His past and present professional and civic membership affiliations include: National Association of Securities Dealers; Christian Legal Society; National Association of Tax Professionals; American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, Governance Council Member, Section of Dispute Resolution, American Bar Association; Ohio State Bar Association; and member of the Board of Directors of International Ministerial Fellowship.

He is an author and/or co-author of nine (9) books and over fifty (50) published articles related to the Christian community, to include: Religious Organizations Participating in Political Campaigns: Have the Limits Been Exceeded?”: “A Legal Primer for Church Discipline: Embracing the Fundamentals of Discipleship”; “The Stewardship of Church Financial Resources”; “Unrelated Business Income Tax And Religious Organizations: An Analysis of Its Past, Present and Future Applications”; and “The Congress of National Black Churches Tax Guide” (annual publication).

Dr. McDowell has received numerous honors throughout his career to include: Listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities; and the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Degree from Wilberforce University.

Finally, Dr. McDowell expresses that his greatest and most notable and unforgettable experience is the receipt of heavenly salvation through Baptism in Jesus Name and receiving the most precious and ever unparalleled gift of the “Holy Ghost.”
